We have been web users since the net was first readily available, and have been designing websites for almost 15 years. During that time we have reached some firm conclusions about what makes a great website. These form the ethos of our website design philosophy.

Show not tell
The web is a visual medium, more akin to TV than a book. It must be easy on the eyes, and attractive and tasteful. An image makes a point far more powerfully than mere words.

Simple is best
Sites with a dazzling number of link pages, and all manner of extraneous facilities, tend to confuse the visitor. Rock solid navigation, and a focus on the key information, is what counts. Trying to be all things to all people can make a site overly bloated and harder for the visitor to locate the important information, and it may fail to get across the key messages.

First impressions count
Setting the correct tone on the first page of a site engenders the visitor to explore further. Dissapointing the visitor with a poorly designed homepage creates a negative first impression.

Guide don't push
Your website is a shop window, it entreats the visitor to come inside and browse your wares. The visitor shouldn't feel they are bombarded with pushy salesmanship. A polite and friendly invitation works better than a cattle prod.

Content is king
A flashy, gaudy design may initially gain the visitors attention, but if the site lacks solid content then the visitor will soon lose interest.

Keep it up to date
An out of date website loses the visitors trust. Refreshing the site and keeping it vibrant gives the visitor a reason to return.

Design for everyone
Far too many sites are designed and tested solely for Internet Explorer, and often fail to display correctly when accessed using other popular browsers, such as Firefox.
djsampson.com
Oriental Arts dealer site. We created the site and helped the owner learn to manage the site himself, a testament to our easy to manage site design.

GoKart Christmas Puzzle
We created this fun Christmas Puzzle site for a golf dealer. We also created all the puzzles, creating content as well as design! It was a huge success and we have been commissioned for a repeat, which is completed and due for release this summer.
